Well, your number is off. In reality, the number of people against gay marriage is only about 54%, while an actual MAJORITY of Americans favor civil unions.
In the United States we have this concept of equal protection under the law. The United States Constitution, as articulated in the Sixteenth Amendment, provides that all people will, essentially, have the same rights - there will be no special exceptions for minorities. It's taken a lot of fighting, but there was once a day when blacks couldn't marry whites, when women could not vote, etc. Our nation is founded on the principle that all people are created equally and thus deserve equal rights...rights are not just granted to the majority.
The primary argument against gay marriage is on religious grounds. However, the United States has a clause in its Constitution which prevents the sanctioned establishment of ANY religion. Thus, banning gay marriage, I would argue, will ultimately be construed as a violation of both the First and the Sixteenth Amendments. It may take another generation to get us there, but it will happen.

Hey, the new talking point Liberals did not win, Conservative Democrats did. Pursue of happiness is why I won`t vote against gay marriage just like I won`t vote to take guns away.

The Republicans are the ones who make it an issue. They get it on the ballot to bring out all the homophobic freaks who think it is the greatest threat to man kind. If they didn't bring it up we wouldn't hear about it. The only reason you hear from gays on the issue is to defend themselves. Don't you think they have enough to deal with without having to be attacked. I believe they would be happy with civil unions and equal rights.
And yes I believe the direction of the Democratic party is more moderate, like it was before. That doesn't mean they will take away gay rights.

Do you have a citation for the percentage? Because this is what I found.
"In February 2004, as same-sex couples were marrying in San Francisco, a Pew poll found 63 percent of Americans opposed the right of gays and lesbians to marry and 30 percent in favor. The margin of error in the latest survey was plus or minus 3 or 4 percentage points, depending on the question."

90 percent? What have you been smoking this morning. That's is VERY inaccurate. And please don't post actual figures unless you have proof to it. Which you obviously do not. The actual number that does not support gay marriage is closer to 60% (actually a little bit under it according to this year's votes). I don't even need to provide proof to that, you can find that anywhere on the web. Try Googling something like "gay marriage support percentage".

Do you remember how many AMericans were against abolishng slavery? Did that make it okay? Americans are against equality for all when they vote no on Gay marriage and they fail to truly embrace the separation of church and state. The Folley etc. scandals prove that the fear of gay is so rampant that people will lie, cheat and be hypocrits to hide. If society allowed equality they would not have to hide.

Before 1920, most of the country didn't want women to vote either. They "spoke in waves", so should I and about half the American population not be allowed to vote?

90%? Where did you get your numbers from? In the states that had referenda on it this year, the "anti" vote ranged from 49% (AZ) to 81% (TN), with an average of around 60%. That's far from the 90% you cite.
