This is tough because i really want to say the Traveling Wilburys. So i guess i will, lol. The Traveling Wilburys because they played music the way it should be played. A bunch of brilliant musicians jamming together and coming up with brilliant songs. None of this heavy metal, rap, grunge, or pop ****.

The Wilburys' best song was probably End Of The Line, or Handle With Care. I love You're Not Alone and Tweeter And The Monkey Man. It's just such a pity Roy Orbison passed when he did and we didn't get to see more of them.

The reason i hesitated was because of a band called Crowded House. These guys knew how to enjoy music. Not only did they play great stuff, they enjoyed doing it and they let everyone know. Neil Finn is probably one of the last true songwriters going round out there. They broke up while still in their prime and it was a shame they did. I won't pick a best song, but anything on their greatest hits album would be worthy.

Are we talking now about greatest or decent, because the two things are very different. To me a group is a formation of up to say ten to twelve musicians playing together. An actual band really need to be 13+. There are plenty of decent, in fact far better than decent bands around today, including a Glen Miller Band and a Count Basie band, although the band leaders are long gone. Best band ? I rate either Nelson Riddle playing anything with Sinatra or Ellington with Billy Strayhorn arrangements.

Red Hot Chili Peppers
Scar Tissue
They have been making amazing music for over 20 years. If u have seen them live u would understand that its not just the music either they put on an amazing show with stage presence entertainment and they can all play their instruments like Gods (btw i'm counting anthony's voice as an instrument).

I don't think they are going to be the LAST greatest band because obviously there are still many amazing bands we are yet to hear but i just wanted to answer this question cause i liked it.

I could pick a different band probably every day , but today
its The Doors , mainly because of THE MAN , and his
presence and talent along with the rest of the band,
their best song for me is an LP track from LA Woman
called .. The cars hiss by my window, the best blues song
that I have heard , good question , cheers.

If you're asking about REAL musicians, then it was The Ted Heath Orchestra. Sunday night at the London Palladium EVERY Sunday for years because they were so popular, along with several other big bands of the time - who remembers Eric Delaney, The BBC Big Band, oh sorry, I expect most of you have fallen asleep by now !
If you're asking about the rubbish we get shoved at us nowadays then I'm afraid none of them fall into the category of "great".

Who says you cant go Home which was there last single this year and they still have what it takes.
Jon really cares about his fans (unlike Axle Rose) He gives a hell of a lot to various charities. He is a man of principles and loves his wife and family very much. He is gorgeous, he can sing, he can play, and well i just love love love BONJOVI ,
I quite like Scissor Sisters too.

Queen and The Doors, for example, are two bands which will never dissapoint me, I am sure.
Both are everlasting music.

It is really nice to be introduced in Music through them.
And I even cried when F. Mercury died, and so when I realized of Jim Morrison´s dead.

Going by your picture I assume you think the Doors was. It is a shame he had to die so early....I'm only 17 so it is obvious that I never got to see some of the greats....Jimi, Janis, and Jim to name a few.

The greatest rock band? That is too difficult of a decision.

The Who- Won't Get Fooled Again and their still around. Keith Moon, The Ox, Townshend, and Daltry can't beat them.
