I've heard it mentioned in the 70s and in songs (I Wanna Be Loved). This question is for the 40 years and older set. Unless you are cultured enough to know! **winks**

It was a gathering, usually outside, where everyone congregated to show love to one another and smoke pot. Sex was optional.

I liked the be-ins and the happenings better. Happenings had a lot of dancing and were held indoors. Alcohol and pot were optional.

The be-ins had a more political tone and were gatherings usually outdoors where pot and sex were not so prominent. Speaking of the issues was the goal.

My daughter was into raves. Hypnotic dancing in a different place each time, drugs optional, sex occasional.

A gathering of people who got together to share their love. Some did their sharing on the spiritual. some on the physical.
A Love-In would have people who just held hand, people who would walk around giving people hugs (which lasted as long as they wanted them to), people sitting down and talking, people singing together, making music together, and for some people making love together.

Love has so many meaning. But for me love yourself first before you can love someone else.
