Being authentic to oneself means being true to your core beliefs and not selling out. For example, will you do community service or just hang around, I have a professor that chose to teach at a community college rather than Harvard because he felt that it is where he could do the most good. Authentic is way up there on the chart of Maslow's theory of self- actualization. Be a true an honest person to your self and others, and walk the walk just don't talk the talk.

In grade school (kinder-12th), you and your peers are taught the same skills. Yeah, you take some electives on the side, but you're all still required to do the same core classes (math, english, et cetera).
However, once you are out of grade school, it's your decision. You can choose to enter the workforce, go on to a trade school, go to a 4-year university, be homeless, whatever. It's the experiences you have after you get your high school diploma that shape you and make you an authentic person.

I know what you mean! Once you leave your parents house to move on. You have to become responsible for everything you do!!! You learn how to do things on your own! It's a big step in to life! I didn't even know if that really helped you but good luck!

I think you need to change the question. Authentic?
What are you in SCHOOL some kind of Alain.
If your teacher gave you that question then I think the teacher needs to go back to second grade.
