Firstly what a daft notion of a "lefty" elite - in the UK the elite, if there is one tends to be of establishment types who generally tend to be right of centre; rich people who for the sake of protecting their wealth veer towards the right and the labour govt who are far removed from any sense o being left...
If your question is aimed at disparaging the left - come out and say it
instead your question becomes illogical as it makes a presumption which cannot be tested and you would also find that most people would agree with cross-border, international co-operation to combat the scourge and challenges of international plots whether it is terrorism or money laundering
as for the legal system being worried about human rights - thank God it has some buffer left after the numerous attacks by the onslaughts of a Labour govt who have sought to rid themselves of the burden of a jury system - be grateful for human rights if you should ever end up on th wrong side of the law - they ain't much but we need to protect them

aded after extra info from questioner: and you trust the Mail on Sunday as a neutral news giving newspaper!? Good God the paper that thought Hitler was a mighty fine idea right up until the war had started a paper that has a track record of inaccuracy and mreover creating and disemanating scare stories to suit their owners own right wing viewpoint - please do check other news stories before posting this irresponsible nonsense

Its your human rights the legal system is worried about.
As they are supposed to our allies in this joke of a war what were they doing running ops in our country? They should have passed the information on for our security services to use. Its an insult to the sovereignty of our nation, by this act the place us on the same level of contempt they show for the countries we are supposedly at war with.
I'd rather be labelled lefty elite than let the US march their troops in and take people from this country.

Catching spy's what? "Spy's" is possessive, so I assume this means the spy has something that the CIA wants to catch. For example, the spy's briefcase. This means the briefcase belonging to the spy. Is this what you mean? So what is it that belongs to the spy that the CIA wants? If there is more than one spy involved then it would be "spys' ", which is the plural possessive of spy.

If you mean more than one spy then the word is "spies".
