Tunisia is gorgeous for holiday: It really depends on where you want to go and what you are expecting to do. Situated on the Mediterranean Sea, it is the northernmost African country, and the smallest of the nations situated along the Atlas mountain range, bordering Algeria, to the west, and Libya to the south east.

I love Tunisia very much! The country is so full of history (has been under the rule of Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Berbers, Ottomans, Beys, and French; played a significat part in WWII, was the center of the ancient world with Carthage as the capitol, etc) and it has so many beatiful places to visit! It is unlike any other Arab country in that is has a lot of greenery. There are also many historical ruins in just about every part of the country you go to.

The mountain region is breathtaking! There are fantastic views and an the atmosphere is reminiscent of an old town in Switzerland. Absolutely gorgeous! The coast is marvelous. The Sea is clear and picturesque. The midland and south are terrific because they offer you the chance to peek into a forgetten society - one that holds fast to tradition. I have been all over Tunisia and have visited most cities and have loved everyone because they each have their own special charm.

The people are so warm and hospitable. They instantly welcome you as one of their own and treat you like family. Tunisia is also a very safe place. There are not many places in this world where a women can walk the streets alone in the middle of the night without fear. Yet I often take late night walks and have never had any problems and have never felt fearful.

If you tell me what city or cities you are thinking of going on vacation to, I can tell you some interesting and fun things to do there, as well as share some of my pictures that I have taken of those cities. Since I live here I have been to almost every city in Tunisia and they ALL have a special charm about them!

Feel free to contact me with any further questions or if I can be of more assistance.

Yes its a great place to go. Been 7 times. Great beaches, people are really friendly. You do get bothered to buy things from stalls and shops but hey everyone has to earn a living. If you just laugh and get into the mood nobody takes offence. Been to Port El Kantoui, Hammamet and Sousse. Hotels good and staff friendly. The locals love kids too. Very hot in the summer, warm in October. Try it an see.

Yeh its a beautiful place with lovely beaches and lovely hotels. Bit of a cultural shock though. It is an arab country and it feels like you are in an Arab country. Nice though. You will hear a siren about 5 am in the morning calling the Muslims to prayer. They drive in the middle of the road. The markets are very noisy and busy. You will find people driving around in cars with their livestock in the car. It is nothing unusual to see a Cockerell perched on the balcony of a flat and sheep looking through the balcony railings. Kids take the sheep for a walk. The people are friendly. The people selling goods in the markets are hard to get rid of as they follow after you trying to get you to buy their goods. They have lovely italian icecream parlours. They have lovely coach trips. One to an Ampitheatre and there is one to the dessert and Oasis. It is a very interesting country and we very much enjoyed it. The weather was great too. Food was tasty and didn't look or taste strange.

I went there last august. It would depend on what type of holiday you liked if you liked it or not.
The hotels are good, but outside them the streets are quite dirty and there is not a lot to do. No nightclubs or anything. Not even karaoke bars.
There are very few 'proper' shops and its mostly local crafts you can buy although they are cheap.
The cigarettes are pretty bad and its difficult to get genuine brands ( a lot of them are made by the locals).
There is not a lot of variety on the alcohol its mostly their local brands and if you want the real thing, its really expensive.
If you want a relaxing holiday, like the beach and dont care much for night time entertainment, then I would recommend it though.

Depends what you want. There are beach resorts. There are ancient ruins. There are souks. There are villages in the dessert that you can visit by camel.

About 95% of Tunisians are muslim. If you're interested in exploring other people's cultures, it's a great place to go. If you want lager and chips and the company of fellow English tourists, don't bother.

yes, in my opinion you should visit it. it offers a great variety of choices and you can have a good holiday, discover a beautiful contry, enhabited by friendly people. but dont go during july or august. it is too crowded, the beach is invaded by people and the charm is lost...besides it is likely you'll find it too hot and all put together to consider this an unpleasant journey. my favourite time is beginning of october and may.and who knows, maybe you'll end up like my husband and i who love it and go there once a year.
enjoy
