I quit taking my birth control last month. My last period was Oct 10, I ovulated on the 24 and should have gotten my period on Nov 7. I am 5 days late for my period. My husband and I did have sex a couple times before during and after the time I ovulated. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests. (One on the day I was supposed to start and 1 this morning). They both show negative. I've been having a few symptoms but don't know if they could be due to me being pregnant..
~ breast and nipple tenderness

~ an increase in clear discharge that feels like I just started my period but I go to the bathroom and I haven't

~ more frequent urination

~ and also I have felt like I am about to start my period for the last 2 weeks. The same cramps feeling. I heard that this was a sign of pregnancy.

HAve any of you had an experience like this? Is it likely that I am pregnant or could it just be that my periods are out of whack becasuse I just stopped the birth control?

Sorry this is so long.

Your birth control pills have your body programmed to a specific cycle. When you stopped taking them, you threw your body out of whack.

It's difficult to determine whether or not you're pregnant by what you're saying, considering that dropping birth control can make you feel the same way for a short amount of time.

Those are pregnancy symptoms, though. Usually, by the time that your body starts producing symptoms, you'd come up with a positive pregnancy test. Take another one in a week if your symptoms still have not gone away and you still haven't had a visit from Aunt Flo. If that test comes back negative, it's time to see your OB/GYN to get a blood test drawn.

Good luyck to you.

No contraceptive is 100% effective, including birth control so it's possible that you are pregnant. However, no a missed period does not mean you are definitely pregnant. Numerous things can effect periods (stress, etc). Your best bet is to take a pregnancy test first thing in the morning with the first urination of the day since the hcg hormone is more present then.

Stopping birth control can cause a missed period. Your body is out of practice so far as regulating its own hormones goes. The negative pregnancy tests are a good inidcation that you are not pregnant. If you are still concerned, try talking to your doctor and getting a blood test. Also, stressing over whether or not you are pregnant can cause your period to be late. Take a deep breathe and relax.

When I had my first child my symtoms were the same. Depending on how long you have been on birth control yes you can get pregnant the first month. My sister missed 4 pills and got pregnant. Also you may not be pregnant and the clear dicharge is your body's hormones getting used to being off the pill. I would get a blood test if the other tests are neg.

My girlfriend has also done the same thing before, she stopped taking birth control to see if the pills were making her hyper allergic, and she did experince some weird withdrawal symptoms, and we did not have sex during this time un-protected as she wasn't on the pill, call me us paranoid but we are not ready for kids. Our family doctor has told us about 2-5 days after stopping the pills, your body will be capable of conceving a baby, so im afraid you should go to the doctor and get medical advice because this is not the best place to ask as people will give you mixed advice/answers so i urge you to see your doctor as he/she will clear any doubts you have right away.

You could be pregnant, but it may not be too. When I went off my pill, I didn't have a period for a month and a half, and every month after that it was late until we got pregnant. I would give it another week and take another pregnancy test. But keep the tampons/pads ready because it could also start any day.

I don't have an anwer but was wondering if you found one because I'm experiencing the exact same thing. I'm 2 weeks late and stopped using bc in beginning of October. I took one test and it came back negative but I am still experiencing so many symptoms. I thought about taking another test but I just keep waiting to start. Let me know what you've found out. Thanks!

Umm, I would wait a little longer and then re- test in a few days. It took me 2 weeks to show up. Well, If it were me I would also consider going to the doctor to get a blood test.
