If picking a ball python out a bunch of others you can look at their spurs by their vent. The smaller the spurs the higher chance you have its a female. More experienced owners can use the popping method, and the probing method. The only way to tell is to have the snake sexed. There is a small kit which experienced snake sellers use to tell if the snake is male or female. If you get the kit and try it yourself without knowing what you are doing, you could permanantly hurt the snake. The cheapest and easiest way to find out what your snake is, find a local reptile seller or show, they usually have people there who will sex the snake for free. It only takes about 30 seconds to sex a snake.
