Because we conservatives have recognized the fact that the information that the American public is being presented is being shown through the lens of a very liberally biased media machine, which has decided to use its power to influence opinion. Too many people only see what CBS, NBC, CNN, or the New York Times want them to see. The stories are always framed to draw the viewer to the conclusion that the producer wants to promote. And for some reason, people who go into journalism are statistically much more likely to be liberals. Maybe it's the whole "I want to change the world" ideology that is promoted. Reporters aren't supposed to be the ones who make the determination of what is newsworthy and what the viewer’s conclusion should be, but they do.
Us conservatives have decided we like our culture, and would like it not to be destroyed by people who have decided that all cultures are equally valid. They are not. As an example, if that were the case, then cultures who accepted cannibalism as part of their religion should be given the same validity as any other. What about polygamy? Where do liberals want to draw the line? How can they even know? Every time some new group wants their culture to be accepted into America, the libs say we must find a way to accommodate them. Conservatives simply say that we will welcome into American culture any who want to accept it, but don't expect us to accept something we see as a threat to the stability of the culture which has worked to build the most successful nation in world history.

This, to conservatives, is not negotiable

Karl Rove thought that enough people were ignorant to the truth and would believe that lie for long enough to keep his party in power, setting aside every failure of the administration.

He was wrong.
