If you are able to prove that your partner:
1. Did lie before marriage,
or his/her family members
misled your family and concealed
truthful information, then you
can make an application for divorce,
after a waiting period of 6 months
of seperation. (letters and other
documents may be kept to
prove the point)
2. If there are other points of adultry,
(having illicit relationship with another
person after marriage)- documents
like photographs, current letters may prove
your point.
3. For the reasons of cruelty and beating.
4. For demanding additional dowry after
marriage.
5. Insanity of the partner.
6. A sexual pervert.
In any case, you shall have to wait for a period
of six months, duly seperated. After six months,
you can make an application for divorce, and
you will get a decree.
Mutual divorce is also possible. If after getting
your legal notice, your partner approaches your
Lawyer, for compromise, then it is advisible, that
a mutual seperation divorce suit is filed. After
this suit is filed, the court will give both of you, a period
of 3 months for a compromise, otherwise, the
court will grant decree of divorce.

Having been living separately for only three months do not suffice to be a reason for opting divorce. How much time it takes for granting divorce depends on various factors and no specific time frame could be availed in Indian judiciary.

laws are different everywhere. i would check it out where you live and see what they tell you. in most cases if everyone agrees on everything should be done in about 6 months but again check it out where you are cuz could be different.
