In my opinion, yes. She did far more for this country than anyone before or since, her handling of industrial crises and the beligerance of the argentinians was second to none, alas, like many great leaders, she was stabbed in the back by "friends and collegues". We could do with her now instead of the wishy washy jessies that we have as"leaders".Before anyone brands me as a rabid right winger, let me say I'm not, I am a trade union member of many years standing,I just think that she put certain people who would have ruined this country in their place.

The one wrong thing that the lady did wrong in my opinion was using iron hand on the northern ireland impasse; just like Goerge bush is doing nowin Afghanistan and Iraq. Adams and McGuiness are now in the political fold and violence is a thing of the past in Ireland now; thanks to her successor who pulled the "terrorists" back into the political process.
Two things led to her demise:
1. The conservatives panicked as a result of the poll tax riots( we now pay an even higher alternative called council tax.
2.The Westland helicopter affair that pitched her against that pitched her against a very ambitious fellow conservative, michael heseltine.
Geoffrey Howe however applied the fatal blow. to the relief of all Rastafarians in Brixton who Mrs Thatcher relentlessly pursued by establishing the infamous Child support agency.
Personally as a black person call me a traitor for liking Mrs T and Norman Tebbit, i learnt a lot politically from the conservative but i dont agree with all their policies.

I am not a conservative but I recognise that Mrs Thatcher was a great leader in many ways; she was a pioneer being the first woman PM; she brought her party back to electoral success after failure; and she introduced policies which still affect Britain today, some good and some bad depending on your point of view (sale of council houses; joining the EU; closing coal industry; private involvement in NHS; pro US foreign policy stance; trade union reform). However she was very divisive and her career ended in failure. Arguable she was such a polarising figure that she has made it harder for other women to follow her.
I would say that Lloyd George, Churchill and Attlee were greater PMs, who overcame greater challenges and introduced the most lasting and beneficial policies.

Soooo, this wasn't really a question, it was just an excuse to fawn over Thatcher? Right. To answer anyway, no, she wasn't the greatest leader of all time. She killed off British industry, ruined the lives of thousands of miners and devastated Welsh villages to the point that they're still struggling today.
She got us involved in a petty war over the Falklands, really messed up with the whole 'new towns' idea and epitomised 80's grubby obsession with money and power.
So much for the first female Prime Minister, she only got in becuase she was indistinguishable from a man. Horrible, horrible woman.

Nope - Alexander the Great was the greatest leader of all time. The greatest British leader was Winston Churchill.

She had the interests of herself, her arms dealing crooked son and her rich friends at heart. Unfortunately she (and others since then) confused this with 'the country'.
If we're so strong then what happened to all our industry or is passing bits of paper around the only industry that matters?

Well from a Scottish point of view certainly not. Her tyrannical running was not favoured here: poll tax , deindustrialism , falklands , selling council houses off ect made thousands if not millions worse off. I suppose it is different from a British point of view as she did do many other things that were good but we tend not to want to remember them. She wasn't the worst pm but I would never class her as the best I would instead say that Clement Attlee was our greatest pm. His creation of the NHS and nationalising of many industries has helped the country even to this day.

Monetarism equates with de-humanism.
This woman made society greedy and we are suffering today from Tory policies.
A generation of Thatcher's children with no hope.
Bloody little englanders admire this woman and now they are turning to the BNP.
Great.

Honest!!! this is the woman who sank the Belgrano when it was out of the war zone. A cold and heartless decision designed to increase patriotism and increase her popularity in the electoral polls just before a general election.
Stop looking at the past through rose tinted glasses.
