There will be fighting and violence....... just not as much. Eventually some group will assume power. Their will be a lot of vendettas being settled for several years after we leave. I would dare to guess that the Shiite's will come out on top since Iran is just next door and will support the Shiite's in Iraq. But that is just speculation on my part.
When we pulled out of Vietnam the North Vietnamese swarmed over the South and there were a lot of people who had sided with us who were executed. Many more were just put in what is referred to as "re-education" camps. But eventually the killing stopped.
This same scenario is unavoidable, regardless of how long we wait. One thing is for certain. Our presence in Iraq only fuels the killing process. It gives many a "cause" to kill. When we leave I think we will be despised by many people in that region for decades to come. Vietnamese got over it, Iraq will too.
The fact is we should never have gone into there to begin with. It was extremely short sited on the part of the decision makers in Washington. The U.N. was against it. The "majority" of the world community was against it. Someone needs to go back to school and learn history so that they might be able to have enough insight to make parallels before acting. What is insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

I've heard a lot of people ask " what is our exit strategy from Iraq". Well, what was our strategy to leave Germany, Japan, Korea or Bosnia. We are still in all of those Countries. I believe that Iraq has been politicized by people who think that our failure will be their gain, politically. I look at the facts. Saddam's been captured, put on trial and sentenced to death, his evil sons, dead. The Al-quada leader (Zarkawi) also dead. Democracy has a foot hold
( free elections ). It would be a shame to leave to soon & let those people down. Do we back up what we say we are going to do or leave & dishonor those who have died fighting for what they believed is a just cause. The Iraqi people, with our help, can run their country. However, if we leave in one or five years it will be to soon. We should keep a presents there for as long as it takes to maintain statbility. Most importantly we should communicate that to our friends and enemies.

Whether we leave tomorrow or 5 years from now... Iraq will remain unstable for a while.
Then the most popular group will eventually be in charge. Democracy will not prevail in Iraq.
Most of the Middle East Countries have been under Monarchy or Dictatorship rule for many, many years and most likely Iraq will end up with another Dictatorship or worse yet, Iraq will become another Islamic State just like Iran.
The real shame of it is...just like in Vietnam, The USA lost over 60,000 Men and what they wanted to accomplish in Vietnam, never happened.
It will be similar in Iraq...the death toll is still mounting and it will probably turn out the same way...what the USA wanted to accomplish in Iraq, will not happen.
We would have lost thousands of our Proud Men & Women in Iraq and it would have been all for nothing!

Chaos, ethnic cleanings, muslim law. Division into 3 sections with parts of the Shiite region going to Iran, and parts of the Kurdish area going to Turkey or Kurdistan. Additional wars between the 3 parts and perhaps neighboring nations over oil rights.
The longer the US stays, the worse it will be for the Iraqis because the society will have deteriorated for longer before the really big unrestrained, civil and regional wars. Of course, the longer the US stays, the larger our death toll.

it would be silly to bypass away. we've extra suitable our ability to react to threats interior the ME tenfold, that's precisely why the Iranian subsidized terrorists desire us out so badly. Our presence there provides to our very own protection right here at residing house and as we talk invalidates Ahmadinejad's and the clerics call for destruction of Israel and the west. it somewhat is what they're unwilling to settle for. it somewhat is what this persisted struggling with is approximately and it somewhat is the reason our constructive factors interior the area could be maintained. The loss we've already incurred would be for naught if we withdraw. As evidenced by potential of public sentiment (and that's precisely what it somewhat is - sentiment) right here interior the U. S., the everyday public does not constantly understand what's at stake whilst it includes the two nationwide or, worldwide, coverage. The Iraqi government needs us to stay and that they be attentive to extra useful than their human beings what's interior the rustic's ultimate interest. What maximum persons needs is beside the point. EDIT: What a bounce! I reported no longer something approximately advocating dictatorships. the everyday public chooses a frontrunner each 4 years and it is the interest of that individual to make judgements based upon the long term ultimate interest of the rustic, no longer public opinion. at circumstances, their judgements would have adverse short-term and instant ramifications upon the everyday public and reason the style of outcry we are at present experiencing. that does no longer mean those judgements are incorrect. Nor, does it propose we could constantly motel to anarchy. the certainty that this manner of super sort of right here in this u . s . fail to work out the long-term reward of our staying interior of Iraq basically shows how short sighted and inept public opinion could be and is a precise occasion of why those presidents who do the bidding of the everyday public are as inept as their aspects. There are clarification why we opt for extraordinarily knowledgeable and extraordinarily experienced persons to pass our government quite of Joe Blow down the line.

There is talk that if we leave too soon that the President of Iraq will have to ask IRAN to help with the fighting between the Sunnis, Kurds, and the Shiites. We should stay until the country is stabilized so they do not align with Iran.

Same as when we left Vietnam. The strongest group of people (i.e. those with the most money and weapons) will take over and establish a new government. Things will settle down and life will go on. DESPITE what the news media is telling all of us!

the same thing that will happen if we stay, the same thing that's happening now. You guys keep saying that if we leave it's slip into chaos... It's already chaos. No one is talking about just leaving so stop trying to provoke.
