This may sound odd but you don't want to be happy all the time. I told you it would sound odd.

Here's the problem. If you go into an emotional flat line, you won't know where that flat line is. Is it "elation" or is it a bad "funk"? If there are no downs in your life, how do you know when you up??? Life really is a roller coaster, especially the emotional end and the lows are just as important as the highs. They each bring the other into perspective.

I have been in a depression since about 1986. I spent a while in therapy but it didn't help much and now I am just plodding along. A great day for me is one where I feel nothing. Not high, not low, just inert.

As for believing in yourself, that is another matter entirely. Self confidence can be developed by attacking challenges instead of seeking ways to avoid them. I know, easier said than done. Start small and work up. If you are very comfortable in a situation, maybe you aren't reaching far enough. Always reach for that which you can't quite grasp.

Good luck and go after the fruit in the top of the tree. I is much sweeter, in more ways than one.

Wow this is the all time question...the secret to happiness!!! We are human, therefore an emotional creature. We are happy, sad, angry, scared, etc. I struggle with these myself. Building confidence takes time and once you have reached that level of confidence you will ultimately believe in yourself and then maybe even find happiness. I know that sometimes I will even fish for a compliment by saying...."you know I am not really good at this"...then with hopefullness my friend willl say, 'yes you are you do a great job'. Sometimes this is how we build confidence...or at least I do. Staying positive and having a good attitude is a good place to start!!! Not always easy but I know you can do it!! ; )

You won't always be happy. Peter Pan wasn't happy all the time and he was in never never land. Believing in yourself, doesn't mean, not doubting your decisions or abilities. It simply means be true to yourself. Do what you know is good and right, and don't worry about what others will think of you. As you get older, you will remember your life as being a good one.

I don't think anyone can always be happy but I think always believing in yourself is a start. You have to like yourself first.
