I certainly wouldnt spend my own money sending it. If he wants it, tell him to give you your money or come pick it up himself.

I would absolutley not give him the hard drive without paying the money. Besides the hard drive isn't worth 230 but im sure there is stuff on there he wants to have thats worth more than that. That is a lot of money to owe someone.

Send him a picture of you holding the hard drive over a fire, and a note saying, "Pay up or the hard drive goes first!"

Just kidding. But do hold his stuff until he pays you back, otherwise he has no incentive to do so.

Tell him until he gives you your money back he cant get his hard drive back. Tell him it is collateral until he pays you back. by the way was there a written or only verbal agreement for the money? did anyone else hear/see the agreement? has he paid any of the money back?

hold on to his stuff until he gives you your money. men are like that they don't want to pay back anything. believe me I loaned an ex 1500.00 for a truck he just had to have & then he wouldn't pay me back & still hasn't & that was 7 yrs ago. If I would of had anything of his he wouldn't have gotten it back. take care

I would hold what he left behind. AND I would take him to small claims court. Jerk.

Sorry you had to learn this; but, never loan money to anyone.
99.9% of the time they NEVER pay it back....

I would at least threaten to keep his stuff. Still, be cautious because he may accuse you of stealing them. If there is no proof of either the loan or his ownership of the items in question, go for it.

Hell no I wouldnt give it back. The truth of the matter is you probably shouldnt have loaned him the money tilll you were sure of his character.

I would definitely keep them until he pays up, if he reckons that you gave him the money, whats to stop you saying he gave you the things? I know its playing dirty, but if its good enough for him.......

If he doesn't come and get his stuff himself in a reasonable amount time, you can toss it. You do not have to store anything of his.
