Now, im taking degree in nursing for my first year.Im just curious. When i applied for degree in nursing, all of my friends are shocked. They didnt believed that i would take nursing as my career coz of my apperance(well, i look a bit brutal bad-boy-looking,but im actually not). They said that so gays!(Narrow-minded).
In my country, there's only about 0.1% of the nurses are male. And the rest are female. So, what are your prespectives toward male nurses?

I think nursing is a great profession for male or female. Nurses work their butts off and there seems to be a need for them in many areas. Nurses need to be strong....they are on their feet all day and they do a lot of lifting. Personally, I would love for a sexy man nurse to take care of me!!

I am a dialysis patient who has interacted with many nurses--both male and female. To be quite honest, in my dealing with nurses of both sexes, I have found that male nurses tend to be the most attentive and enjoyable. (Not to say that this is true across the board, it's just something that I have personally experienced.) If I were you, I wouldn't even worry about what friends, family, or anyone else for that matter have to say about your noble career choice. Actually, and if you seriously think about it, you wanting to become a nurse is not only noble, but a very courageous move on your part. There are not many people who are willing to take on the responsibility of aiding in the survival of another human being. I say go for it--we sick people need you! LOL!

Most nurses are female and all nurses handle male genitals in the course of their training or duties at some point. By the time they've seen a few hundred they've forgotten what any individual's looks like.

You go, boy! Being a male nurse is a wonderful opportunity to show you are a very committed and compassionate man just like Jesus Christ was. You continue to study hard and get that degree. Those "friends" who assumed that only gay men are nurses are shallow & really jealous of you. Caring for other people is not only the responsibility of a woman. Take care.

I think this is a great profession to get into. People first think of females but more and more males are getting into this field. Just do it and do not let anyone talk you out this. If they do or try to that is they are not secure enough in their manhood to take on this profession. What is the difference anyway. Nurses help people and female patients really like it when they have a male nurse. It is a pleasant surprise. :-)

Being from the old school I was used to female nurses and male Drs then when I was helped by a male nurse I got a different attitude. Sterotypes are just that. If your smart enough to do it than do it.

Nursing is a noble profession. You should be proud of being one. It is a very respectable job and the it pays very very well. The nursing profession needs strong and able men for it is not as easy as other people think it is.

I think society has somehow sunk it into people's brains that men cannot do things such as care-taking because that is considered to be "women's work" and it will supposedly make them "less of a man". Since when does taking care of others make you less of a man?

I think there should be more male nurses!

:)

Go and work in a country where male nurses are valued and not judged.
