Worship is too strong a word, I don't think they pray to him. But he's a revered figure to many evangelicals. This is why when Bush is criticized, it doesn't sit well with them, and they readily brand the critics as un-American or even as traitors.

Well, not being a member of that movement, it's a bit hard to answer.
That said-this one of the most purely idiotic questions I have ever read on Y/A. and I have read some doozies. Shame on me for even answering this idiocy.
Evangelicals, are pretty diehard Christians. As such they worship Christ and no one else. Worshipping Bush would be breaking the 1st comandment. If you are this stupid on a constant basis, your future is in deep trouble.

The Evangelicals do not WORSHIP President Bush. It just happens that he is in alignment with the majority of their beliefs. If you are an Evangelical, and you vote your conscience, then President Bush would be the person who you support. Not worship.

I don't think they worship Bush, but many evangelicals have been guilty of blind obedience to him. Understand that there are some trade offs here. Evangelicals vote for Bush. Bush pushes their national agenda. The reward Bush by blindly defending whatever he does. He, in turn, gives them more of what they want. It is a kind of political masturbation circle.

And remember that preacher who had Bush's ear by phone every week "only BOUGHT meth from that gay hooker!"

Bush lost the war.

No more than the women's libs, pro-choice, socialists, democrats, etc worship Clinton, Dean, Moore, Kerry, Pelosi etc.

Worship has several different meanings. Do they look upon Bush as a devine being? No. Do they agree with him on most social issues? Yes.

I'm soooo glad that you are trying to inform yourself.

Noooooo, the Evangelicals do not worship President Bush, they worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. . . . and ONLY HIM.

I'm not an Evangelical, but it pains me to see someone so misled and misinformed.
