Well, I'm very much in love with an arab man. You might ask why? He also loves me. I found my life and love with him and I am very very happy. I really want this to last. How do you keep a wonderful and lasting relationship with an arab man? Somebody please tell me.

I am Muslim, and I think you should re-post your Question in the "Religion and Spirituality" section under Society and Culture. You can also post it agian in the Travel Section underneath the country where you man is from.

I am not married, but my friend is married to an Arab man and she is very, very VERY happy. He seems to be a very nice and loving man.

If your man is Muslim, then that makes a BIG difference. When you re-post your question, specify what religion he is..If he is a Muslim, then he will probably want you to convert to Islam, but you should only do that if you truly believe in Islam--dont covert for him, only convert for God.

You probably will No longer be able to cook with or eat Pork. Muslims and Arabs DO NOT eat pork, and we consider Pork to be filthy, nasty, and gross. Do not bring bacon, ham, and or anything made with pork into the home--that is a big No-No. YOU should also STOP eating it--as he may not want to kiss you or be intimate with somebody who eats pork. (I know I wont).

He will probably want you to not allow smoking or drinking in the home--those things are forbidden and considered a form of disrespect.

I dont mean to sound stereotypical, but I've heard that Arab men are possesive. He probably will try to limit the time you spend with other people--but if he tries that--stand up for yourself. Dont be rude or be mean, but make it clear that you will do the things you enjoy--without him sometimes.

I must tell you this: you must ask him if he wants more than 1 wife. I'm serious. I'm Islam, a man who is financially able, is able to have up to 4 wives. Even though polygamy is banned in America--many, many Arab men have 2 wives. I know this for a fact. In the mosque, I've personally known people who had more than 1 wife...So, before you marry him--ask him about this. You have the right to have a "Marriage Contract" which states all of these things--whether or not you will allow more than 1 wife. If you do not want him to marry another woman--say 10 years from now--you can say NO, but you must tell him this BEFORE you get married.

You should also bring up the issue of what will happen in case of divorce. Most Arabs, I think, believe that the Man--not the woman--should get custody of children after a divorce. So, make it clear how you would raise your children--if he is Muslim, the children are required to be raised as Muslims.

Before you marry him--this is what you should do: Tell him to take you back to his home country for a visit..Meet his family and see how they make you feel. They might be cold toward you because you are not Arab/Non Muslim--but see if you can form some kind of a courteous relationship. If the women are cold to you--dont get too upset. Arab women are very cold. I'm a Muslim but I'm not Arab--and Arab women dont even speak to me when I say hello. It gets on my nerves that they act so cold--but you cant live your life worrying about them--just be polite, be happy, and move on..After all, these will be your children's relatives. See how it goes.

Good Luck

My husband is arab and we have been amrried for 2 years. Just always joke, have fun and be happy. At my home, we donot bring any problems inside. If he has a bad day at work or if I did, we leave it at the door and inside the house we put on a smile. Live a nice clean life. No drugs, smoking, drinking. Just like anyother relationship. Good luck with your new love. Arab, Muslim men treat their wives like the jewels they are. My husband always brings me home gifts just because he was thinking of me while he was away from me.

Family, food, laughter, love, honesty, intimacy, faithfulness, integrity, frankness, competency, kindness, love of god, love of family, love of friends, willingness to give, willingness to recieve, willingness to share, ability to withstand the hard times, ability to withstand the good times with grace without snobbery and cruelty to those who have less and without acting like a witch;
just be a good person who is worth being loved and you will be loved in return. I married an old friend after 10 years of being alone who was a Palestinian and we've now been together for 15 years. All of my friends and family probably love him even more than they love me! And his mother and I are more alike than any two women I know of. It's so funny when we visit them in Jordan.
I'll be sitting on one side of my husband and Tata (his mom) will be sitting on the other and she and I will say something at the same time, she in Arabic and I in English, and my husband and the rest of the family just crack up because we've both said the same thing! Both of our families were raised in the country, suffered hardships, and fought our ways out of poverty. Of course, my family never had bullets flying over our heads, but God did keep us safe from other adversities.
If he is a good man, don't let him go.

I'm an Arab but your question is kinda vague. What kind of person is he ? It's different between one guy and another. Just relax and don't think or read too much into it. Just enjoy it.

If you can hang with the brooding and hot temper they usually display, WONDERFUL!

I said, USUALLY!. There are exceptions, of course. I haven't SEEN any yet, but there MUST be some.

NOTE: I am not trying to insult anyone here. I base my statement on experience. I work in a factory, and have met people of all races and sexual orientations.
