I know that lots of people will find this answer a complete yawn. But imagine - if you can - the pressure teenagers were under during World War II. They had to study or go out to work, help at home at the same time (many fathers away risking their lives of course), and keep brave when they were sh**-scared, with bombs dropping all around them.
And with clothes on ration, looking good was hardly part of the equation!
How's that for pressure? Would you be able to keep your head together and survive?

I think you have to look t where this pressure is coming from. Kids have always been under pressure from school. However, have they ever been under so much pressure from their peers? And this is the crux of the matter. If they don't fit in, they have no social life. Kids are more vicious and nasty, they have more selfish and unkind today. They're too critical of each other. It's a pity.

I found myself under a lot of pressure to do well when I was at school - It can be quite stressful but some pressure to do well I think is a good thing - if I had nobody encouraging me to work hard and do well I would not have got such good grades because encouragement gave me the desire to do the best I can, and I have taken that away from school to university where I try to do my best but I find at university the pressure is not there to do work so I have to find the motivation to do work in order to succeed to my highest potential.

I don't think so. If anything they are under less pressure than 20 years ago. Twenty years ago a kid was expected to get good grades, work if they were old enough, and help out around the house. Today I know very few kids in h.s. that have a job or has chores around the house. Today's kids think the world owes them something and they should just be handed everything!

i am a teenager and i can say... YES!!! Very much so. the reason? well allow me to explain:
1. revision-for all of the stupid exams we have to do.
2. coursework-all the stupid pieces of work that we have to hand in which take about 1-3 months to do each.
3. homework-well self explanatory really
4. the sressy teachers-they push and push until you can take no more nagging.(then you get a detention)

when you consider that many 17/18/19 year olds were conscripted into the Forces during WW1/WW2 and some 15/16 year olds lied about their age to enlist then i don't think that todays kids have it so bad.
