It's a class C drug--"Chronic use of bismuth salts in animals causes abortion, exophthalmus and loss of hair in newborns exposed in utero.
No adequate human data but suggested possible association between bismuth salts' exposure at any time during pregnancy and inguinal hernia.
Chronic exposure salicylates carries risks to the fetus including congenital defects, premature closure of ductus arteriosus and intrauterine growth retardation."

Jeezum crow people, don't try to freak her out or anything! crikey!!
I, personally, wouldn't be too sure if it's an ok thing or not. I definitely agree to a previous poster who suggested you call the OB...they can give you a list of over the counter meds that are safe to take during pregnancy.
If your looking for something to settle an upset stomach for the morning sickness, there really isn't too much out there you can take. You just have to wait it out. Ginger is supposed to curb the naseau....like Ginger Gum---something you can find in a Natual Food Store. In gum form, the ginger is released slowly so it has a lasting effect. But if those make you sick, you can try things like PreggoPops or flavored popsicles, sucking on candies, saltines, sipping on gingerale and eating very small meals through out the day. Some women swear by SeaBonds (found in drugstores).
I hope that helps some! Good Luck!
***Oh and I DO know for a fact that you shouldn't take Ibuprofren while pregnant. I did a few times and my Dr. gave me sh*t! She said it sends the wrong messages to the uterus...so for pain like headaches and such Tylenol is the one to stick with.

I would take tums for heartburn. (or calcium carbonate which is the same thing but cheaper and usually doesn't contain artificial sweetners which I don't like to take)
For nausea in blind tests ginger works better than any OTC drug. You could also try gripe water (It's in the baby section of the drug store).
For diarrhoea.... hmmm I don't know what I would do. Probably just eat well and wait it out.
Your local pharmacist is also a reasonable source of information. http://www.motherisk.org is great. They have some 1-800 numbers that you can call as well.
Remember though it is always better to avoid drugs when pregnant, even the "safe" ones.

Most doctors and pharmacists recommend not taking any medication at all during pregnancy. Some things you could try to reduce nausea are eating dry crackers before getting out of bed in the morning (if that's when you're feeling sick), eating small, frequent meals of bland foods, or drinking ginger ale. I hope this helps. Good luck!

If you can't get in touch with your Dr., then I would consult a pharmacist. They can tell you more. I was told to take only Tums for upset stomach when I was pregnant. Hope this helps.

Pepto has something in it similar to asprin, which is not advisable during pregnancy....call any local pharmacy ask to speak to the pharmacist, and see what he/she suggests
