As always, the people who disagree with this law of society would rapidly rebel and stir up a revolution. We are intelligent beings and nobody wants to stop living at age 36. Therefore, such a society would not work, because there is no rational person who would support these ideas. In other words, this would be impossible to implement and never become a reality.

There was a movie made back in the 70s that addressed this same situation. Everyone was in this supposedly Utopian society. There was one way to escape this fate, to escape the society. The story centers around 2 people who did escape and found others on the outside. Good science fiction. Good food for thought. I don't think I'd want to live in that kind of society. Of course, being 55, I would be dead already. LOL.

if there was such a thing as this existing in society today then not only would this be bad for mankind, but terrible. imagine just that: you are born in this world as a baby and yet there is some biological ticking away in seconds inside you and by the time you reach 35 years old, you're dead. it would be just indescribable and terrible. i am 25 years old and even though i am still young at heart, there are still plenty of people over 35 who have the talents, knowledge, wisdom and experience. i enjoy hearing and listening to what they have to say and from an older person's point of view. being old isn't a bad thing whatsoever. even though we celebrate when we reach a milestone in our life, age discrimination is still a problem which hasn't been eradicated. and as for that myth that society doesn't regard people over 35 to be of any use to others or society in general is utter shite. of course they are just as important and useful as any decent person of any age. let's face it, i'd rather listen to what a 45, 60 year old man/woman, who is very mature, respectable and sincere, has to say, rather than some mouthy, obnoxious, abusive 10-13 year old. seeing as they have plenty of life experience and have gone through many situations that people such as myself have found ourselves in and of whom we could relate to.

Sci-Fi?

As it have been noted here, "Logan's Run" addressed the issue. The movie terminated life at 30 years old, while the novel terminate it at 21 years old.

It should be noted be noted that people are selfish, they worked themself and others till they are unable to work at all. So it's unlikely will be a society like in "Logan's Run", unless there's a 'non-human' factor involved.

The society in "DT Eightron" (based in many stories, including "Logan's Run") is more likely than the one in "Logan's Run", but only a little bit. It's mainly populated by children, with a small number of young adults, due to its intense working condition.

The society in "The Time Machine" is similiar, the older people of the Eloi are easier to catch and eat.

I think it would be disastrous.Tons of wisdom gained by living to old age would be lost. There would be MANY things that we would face and not know what to do because we hadn`t lived long enough to learn and noone else would be around with the experience to ask. What a catastrophe. Also, what if you were a 34 year old parent of young children or even babies.Who would look after them when they killed you? There would be millions more orphans than there are now,it would be caos.

Not a very nice place to be.

Who would raise the children?? Or ppl would have to have the children much younger, say your last child would have to be born while you were 17 or 18 years old. That's your LAST child, if wanted more you'd have to start earlier...

So much for a 'care free' childhood, you'd have to grow up too fast and become an 'adult' much to young!

And in passing one of the most helpful people in my life is my grand-mother who is 83 years old and can still drink me under the table!

Not much. They didn't survive did they! By the way, you can bet the "rulers" lived past 35.

If you knew you were to be brutally murdered on your 36th birthday, I'd suggest you flee as fast as you can.

Luckilly I got almost 18 solid years left before I have to worry. :)

I suppose you are younger than 35, otherwise you would not ask such a terrible question.
