mine was my nans sister (aunty Liza) heavy set woman but very gentle, stern in her ways but always nice to us....we used to go see her at least twice a week and she would have home baked cake ready for us, straight from the oven, her house smelled like oranges...every time we went there she would treat us with nice things and was always happy and smiley, the thing that made me laugh about her the most was, she wore them old corsets but instead of wearing stockings she used to cut the legs off a pair of tights, so at christmas time i got her a pair of silk stockings from an old army shop, the first thing she did was cut the tops off...never knew why she did that...she would wear them but the ladders went right down to the heels...she would say to us that they were too long for her because she was only 4ft 11 in height..she never compalined about anything and was always willing to help out no matter what, she even used to give us pocket money even though she was broke...i miss her,

My Grandma, her house also always smelt nice, she made chutneys and wine, ginger beer, apple wine. She had an old range fire/cooker, and always had fresh bread or buns rising and cooking, totally lush smell when you walked in and very homely. She had loads of clocks, used to visit every lunchtime because I worked locally, I used to be half asleep by the end of my lunch hour, the ticking of the clocks made me sleepy, relaxed. She always stuck up for me, tried to advise and help me all the time, she was someone to turn to. Apparently a bit clairvoyant though she's not appeared to me and I've never felt her presence since she died, about 20 years ago now! But I still miss her comfort and support. X

My grandmother. I spent summers on a small "Ma and Pa" working farm. No wealth there. She was hard working and very loving. She was short too with the nickname (which I never used) of "Shortie". We would talk and do chores together, or she would listen with interest about my wandering the fields with my dog. I hardly ever noticed that there were no other kids around in a twenty mile radius. She made THE BEST pies and cookies. I miss her too and she died 45 years ago.

Mine was my mom's brother who was the black sheep of the family. When I was younger we did a lot of partying together whenever he came to town, and we both actually ended up in jail together for a foolish mistake. Now it would be a cousin of mine who lives in Ohio and is a very successful businessman, but still has a great sense of humour. We spent many vacations together and are pretty close.

My favorite relative was my nana. When I was a baby I was really picky about everything. About the food I ate and even about the way I put my socks on. I used to spend HOURS trying to get the seam to line up exactly right. Everyone else was really annoyed by this but my nana loved it. She got the biggest kick out of me.
