Everyday a lib is questioning or commenting about this issue, and I just wonder why.

Smoke and mirrors.
The idea is to raise a subject that people have a strong convection over, one way or the other. The passion one has for this subject far out weights the importance of the issue in the world scheme of things. All the talk about about guy marriage does not make it mandatory... so it only effects a small portion of the population regardless which side of the fence you stand. As long as someone focuses on this issue, it leaves all the important issues that effect everyone unaddressed. They can set their smoke screen for high density and work on their agenda behind the scenes without anyone being the wiser.

This seems to be more of a Haggard/Foely Republican thing.
I am ok with a little hypocracy. I am not aware of a Liberal fascination as much as what may be normal gender preferences under suppression coming out sideways as it seems to do with social conservative politicians. The more moral some one wants to be percieved as the more I wonder what impulse lies beneath.
A more enlightened tolerance would make this a non issue among consenting adults.

maybe it relates to the repubs using gay issues (almost to the exclusion of anything else) as their political platform...since the fall of the old soviet union, the right has needed a new bogeyman to keep their base energized and the rest of the country frightened...if gays don't fit the bill, illegal immigrants will do just nicely...
