Im currently in year 12 right now and having been thru year 9 and lived to tell the tale, i think you shouldnt worry about missing exams- none of them in year 9 are important. Your health is the best thing, so stay home, go 2 hospital and do what the docs tell u 2 do. It is a worry about falling behind on content (not missing exams tho), so i suggest contacting ur skewl and getting them to send you all the worksheets, etc weekly through the post or via an email. The only exam that you will need to worry about (thats coming up soon) is ur School Certificate (if ur in Sydney) which is in year 10. Good luck and get well soon =P

Multiply .53 x 454 = your answer?

Always remember "of" something in math means to multiply.

a 50 per cent = 227 (half of 454)
b.(10 per cent = 45.4 (10th of 454 ignore this)
c. 1 per cent = 4.54 (100th of 454)
d. 2 per cent = 9.08 ( twice 4.54 c.)
Add them up (ignoring b.)
53 per cent = 240.62 grams This the correct answer out of all the erroneous ones you have received! It is easy to check using this method.
Good Luck!
Sorry I calculated wrongly before - but I have now got it right!!!!!

0.53 * 454

Googie had the right idea, but when he calculated 1% and 2% , he found 1% and 2% of 277, not 454. I.e. he found 1% and 0.5%. Silly boy.

50 per cent = 227 grams

1 per cent = 4.54 grams
2 per cent = 9.08 grams

53 per cent = 240.62 grams

That's the way Googie was trying to do it...

or you could just multiply by 53/100
