Well my family wouldn't be called a joint family.

But my son just yesterday had a big 40th Birthday party & when close to 100 family & friends get together it is one of the best things in life.

Family is belonging. We all need to feel as if we belong.

Being part of a joint family brings more persons in to the fold of belonging.

There are no disadvantages to a Joint family. Its all a matter of every one feeling as if they belong & that they are there for the family & that the family is there for them. I look at it as there are just some rough edges that need to be over come.

There have been constant debates over this topic. Hence, there are some advantages and disadvantages.
Advantage - If you stay with your cousins, aunties, uncles etc you will feel united and they might encourage and support you in various steps in your life.

Disadvantage - Your privacy is ruined. You might want to do some personal stuff which you don't want to tell anyone but you can't because if anybody finds out that you are doing something which is being hidden by everyone, then there might be a unnessary argument.

Not only these but there are many ads and disads but if I go on writing, my hands will ache and you will feel bored!
