Yes it is completely possible. I am American and my husband is Arab and we have a wonderful relationship. I am learning a lot about his traditions and customs and he is learning about mine. Just like with any friend of the same or different culture, there are going to be differences from person to person, but if you are friends, you have to compromise sometimes. You can both learn a lot from each other.

You should tell him that it is considered rude in japan, but also tell him that you know his culture is different and be understanding. You can be friends with people from othercultures... I'm American and one of my friends is from India. If it is a very big mistake to not return the texts in Japan and it really upsets you, you should make it clear that isn't acceptable.

You just have to be accepting of his culture. There are many differences between nationallities but if you really want to be friends with this guy then those differences shouldnt matter to either of you. Please understand that because he doesnt reply to you quickly he is not trying to be rude. He is not even aware that you think it is rude because he doesnt know about your culture. You guys should discuss eachothers customs and maybe like that you guys can tolerate each other a bit more.
Best wishes

when you started being friends, you knew that he had a different culture then yours but you still stayed friends so remember why you became friends in the first place and don't be so uptight about his mistakes and talking to him might also help. so yes you can be friends with someone from a different nationality but do you want to?

it is possible! you can both learn about each other customs and traditions... Talking about it helps, as in any relationship! that way you'll manage to make your own rules. If you're both open-minded, it can be done succesfuly!
