Have the last 15 mins of class be open discussion time. You can have kids drop questions in a box and then pick from the box, read the appropriate ones aloud, answer their questions, & allow students to give their imput. You can start this by the first day discussing manners, the second day discuss body odor. We had open disscussion in one of my classes, & I loved it, you got to talk about other things besides school subjets & you grew to like you teacher because you kind of got to know & talk with them on a personal level, & it made the class fun.

Relate soom to that adam sandler movie where he is a dad for the boy And has to go to court. I cannot think of the name. There is a little in there about both. As simple as asking do you want to be the smelly kid in class? How would you politely tell your friend that he/she is starting to do somethings to make other kids talk about them. Just get your out line introduce and get started.

Ask them what they think are the golden words. please, sorry, thank you, excuse me, may I not can I etc, explain by using them in sentences. Body odor , give an example of entering an elevator & putting your hand on your nose, specify smelly socks.
explain very simply that good hygiene is essential all through your life. at this stage u can emphasise that you have to shower daily, use mouth wash & deodarant. Good luck . children respond very well to teachers who are open & straight forward

Along with open class discussion, you could also bring in pictures of health problems that begin with personal hygiene. For example, pictures of rotton teeth, open sores, lice, etc... I know it sounds disgusting; however, kids seem to connect with 'gross'!!
(I also hand out peppermints to some of my students.....)
