the retail price for a ds lite is around £70-80 without any games included. You can save approx a tenner by getting the original DS, but it's well worth the extra for the lite because it just looks so much better, and the picture is much brighter also. Be careful on ebay, i have seen a lot of coloured ds lites for sale, and the pink has only just been released in the UK (you can currently buy pink, white and black) so the navy blue ones and other colours are not UK release - they are presumably japanese. this isn't an issue for playing UK games, but very often the home menus are in a different language and the buttons are switched aound. Also, you will not be able to 'trade-in' a japanese DS in UK game shops if you ever wanted to move on.

My son got one for his birthday in September. I got if off Amazon (with Nintendogs game included) for £100.

You could probably shop around for a better deal, though.
