Is there any need for James Bond anymore? Not that I am complaining but who is the bad guy now that the USSR is gone?

As long as there are women named Octopussy, Pvssy Galore, Kissy Suzuki, Mary Goodnight, and Tiffany Case in the world, there will always be a place for Bond...James Bond.

Bad guys are a dime a dozen, but the Holly Goodhead's of this world will always need someone special!

Just like the leaders of the 'free world' Bond will always manage to find an enemy.

Incidently, Gorbachov destroyed the USSR. Reagan was just a bemused bystander.

In todays terroristic climate, there will always be a need for James Bond. It's a matter of the writers being creative enough to keep coming up with new story lines.

yes we need him,,,,,now more than ever! get bond now! sorry, i think he's an interesting enough character that he can play well opposite a variety of new villains(terrorists in various forms), not just soviet types. all it takes is a little imagination and a great script and a little less reliance on the villain trying to take over the world(like in the moore movies) - played to death. perhaps a little smaller scale would be nice, but pls stay away from small-timers like sanchez in "license to kill." he's a little too small-time for bond!~

you got to love questions like these.

For one thing there was very little connection except funding for most of the villians by the soviets.

Now you have terrorists (like in Goldeneye).
