ATI and NVIDIA are GPU(Graphical Processing Unit) making companies. Just like Intel and AMD which are in CPU making companies. ATI and NVIDIA is in the making of the graphics rendering chip. ATI produces the chip named Radeon and NVIDIA makes GeForce. Gamers prefer GeForce on a AMD Athlon based system. ATI has also improved much though they have lagged behind in NVIDIA's SLI(Scalable Linkable Interface) systems, now they have readied the answer in Crosshair. Recently AMD has bought out ATI so expect more matching offerings from them. At this moment NVIDIA is the winner, performance wise, price wise.

no such thing as better, its like asking if a german car is better than a UK car, the beem is better than the fiesta, but the aston is better than the beetle

ATi make chips for graphics cards called GPU's (Graphics Processor Unit) and so do Nvidia (makers of the GeForce chip). they both have good points and bad points, they each have a large range of chip available and they then sell them on to manufacturing companies who turn these chips into graphics cards (along with a load of other technology)

so neither ATi or Nvidia actually make graphics cards, thats down to the rest of them, all they do is design and create the chips

and the answer to the question is all down to personal preference, personally i use ATi

and if anyone says you cant go wrong with either, they are living in a faiyland coz they both do

just the brands. Both are very good. I prefer nvidia cards. My bro likes radeon.
Most people I met at Bust Buy prefered Radeon... better customer service.

They come from different manufacturors and there is only a slight difference of performance in various models.

It all depends on how much money you want to spend, what specs your PC already has (CPU RAM etc) and what you want to do.

For high end gaming get a G-Force 8800.
