I have a P4 machine with onboard VGA. I bought it from my friend. I have XP Pro. SP.2. Everytime I startup, the display brightness is extremely high. And everytime as soon as I open Graphic properties> Colour- the brightness comes to normal. This is a bit disturbing.
I tried reinstalling XP and reinstalling my graphics driver but the problem still persists. I asked all my friends but none could help me out. I can't figure out what's wrong. Could you please suggest?

doesn't sound like its a problem with either the driver nor the operating system....just your settings for the monitor itself. once windows boots up the display settings you have set take control but if the monitor settings themselves are set brighter then until windows boots up those are the settings. Check the buttons and make the adjustments directly on the monitor.

Get your monitor checked up. Its bit a too old I presume. You might need to buy a new one even if its gets repaired.

click start > settigs > control panel > display it may be of some help.....or maybe monitor settings.......otherwise consult a hardware specialist.......doesn't seem to be a usual problem though
