Appearently fire ants do this naturally, but I couldn't find a proper source. Actually I know for a fact some ant and bee species can have a virgin queen (unmated) who will still produce, albeit a more limited ammount, of offspring.

The word you are looking for is 'parthenogenesis', which is defined as the development of an egg into an embryo without the participation of a sperm.

In fact, many invertebrates, and even some vertebrates do this.
