turn down the max temp setting on the control

I had this problem. It's caused by a build up of sludge in the pipes so that the water doesn't circulate fast enough and gets overheated.
You have to turn off the power and drain out about half the water in the system , put fernox or similar in the header tank , refill the system and run it for a week. Then drain it again and refill . It should then be OK but if it's very bad may need to be repeated.

The pump may be broken, the over heat stat maybe faulty, the flow switch maybe broken or the worse case will be the PC board has malfunctioned. Sorry but it's difficult to diagnose accurately without examining the boiler.

Check the high limit setting, turn it down, strap athermometer to the out pipe, insulate over it and see if it shuts off accurately.

Your stat is set to high or it is defective and it is shutting down because the over temp safety is shutting it off before it blows up
