Scrambling. QB's who scramble are open for a devastating hit any defender. Staying in the pocket allows for one of t hose big three-hundred pounders in front of you to take some of the punishment. Besides, the referees pay more attention to the safety of the QB when he is in the pocket so they are more inclined to through the "roughing the passer" flag.

It depends of the kind of qb who is at charge. For example, Michael Vick is a scrambling qb kind. If u r playing against him, u would have to chase him around. But if u keep him in the pocket, u might have more chance of winning. The odds of sacking him are higher since he is not dangerous on passing downs. So this situation would be dangerous for him. On the other hand, Peyton Manning is a pocket qb. He can't run with the ball and if he did, he could get a rough hit and he might get injuried easily. So it is less dangerous for him to stay in the pocket.

A scrambling quarterback is more likely to take a serious hit than one who stays in the pocket.

Well just look at who is the best QB now. Payton Manning is the best there is and maybe ever was. I dont think it is a bad thing to be a scrambling QB but the pocket QB has always been better. I think that scrambling is just another weapon to use when you need it. But you dont need it if you have a good line. Pocket is my vote.

Staying in the pocket
If a QB stays in the pocket, he guarantees that he will lose yards and risks a fumble. If he scrambles, he can gain a few yards and then go down (one method of going down that is relatively unknown, but works in the NFL is to scream "Down").
Any QB who stays in the pocket and takes a sack simply isn't a good player. Every bad QB either gets sacked alot or forces throws (forced throws always result in INTs if the defenders are competent). That's why Peyton Manning and the Colts haven't been able to win playoff games.

What is more dangerous is a pocket passer who can pick apart a defense. Everyone so far has said a scrambler...but look no further than Mike Vick...the Giants showed you how to beat Mike Vick...pressure the guy and stay in your lanes. The only way to beat a guy like Peyton Manning is to confuse him and make him uncomfortable. A guy who can stay in the pocket is far more dangerous to a defense than a guy who tries to make up for a lack of field vision by pulling it down and running. Overall the guy who can check down faster, read the defense, and make good decisions is not only more dangerous...he'll also survive longer playing the game.

if the QB do both well like Vick of the falcons then there is no problem . but you can stay in the pocket to long and if you can't run your in a lot of trouble against most defenses . so i say staying in the pocket to long is dangerous . i like seeing a QB that have some mobility

It relies upon, if he's quickly and could harm tackles actual then he could scramble, If he's sluggish and skinny than the receivers could get open or you're able to do extra speeding performs with your halfback.

i think it depends on who the QB is, what his strengths are, and what his o-line is like.
it would be very dangerous for peyton manning to scramble, but not for michael vick.
