Or do I have to go to the dealer?

Depends on the type of shaft that is coming out of the dash for the knob to go on. If there actually is a shaft left coming out of the dash then should be one of two kinds. Either a round shaft with tiny splines on it, or a "D" shaped shaft. Either one can be fitted with a knob of some sort from Radio Shack and they carry dozens of them. You need to know the size of the shaft, usually 1/8th inch or some other similar measurement. These shafts and switches being electric share their components with stereo and radio and all sorts of other electronic components. It is the knobs themselves that are made particular to match some interior components in the cars. If you switch was the kind where the shaft came out with the knob then all bets are off and you have a "proprietary" switch that will have to be replaced with original either new or used. Hope this helps.

Go to the dealer . There are no generic replacements. The knobs fail because of years of heat from the light behind the control panel.

The best thing and the cheapest to do, is go to a wrecking yard and get one off a wrecked car.
