If someone starts talking to you but you don't remember them, How do YOU find out what their name is & were you know them from without giving away that you don't remember them?

The last person I was straight forward with said she was so hurt that i did not remember her that it crushed her. that also happened another time years ago when again, I was told how hurt that person was that I didn't remember them. I would rather not go through the gilt trip for something I can't help. I really just can't remember.

I'm pretty straight forward, I just say, I'm sorry but I cant seem to remember your name.....then it usually jogs my memory once they tell me.

if after really trying i still dont remember the name, i tell the person 'im sorry but im really bad with names, what's yours again?' or something like that. sometimes, i just go with the flow of the conversation without mentioning the person's name; it feels awkward, though. =D

That's a simple one.....I honestly tell this person that I'm sorry, but his/her name escaped my mind. Most of the time this person just laughs, and tells me his or her name.

I just hold out my arms and say "gimme a kiss...its been so long...hold on let me spit out my tobacco first" they tend to say "oh gosh look at the time...catch up to you soon"

that happened 2 many tyms.
somebody wud just approach me & talk abt alot of stuff that happened fr d last tym he/she saw me.. & most of d tym, i really cnt remember their names
so i just go w/d flow.. most of d tym i do remember them. it's only their names that i cnt recall..
then as soon as they leave, il ask whoever i was w/or whoever's near me 2 identify who they were..
i never tried 2 ask them 4 their names coz that's so humiliating.

you can find a friend who don't know the person to ask that person's name for you.
