flush - free niacin is bound in a complex with the B-vitamin inositol, and this really eliminates the flushing effect - meaning that you can take rather large doses without the hot tingling in the skin & itchiness which comes with regular niacin doses.

And the flush-free niacin continues to possess the good effects of regular niacin, such as lowering blood cholesterol. But there is no vasodilation produced from it like plain niacin.

Its main drawback is its higher cost.

Hope this helps. If my answer was good, I thank you for a best answer rating.

I might use a small amount of 'flush' niacin to prevent a headache or migraine developing.

Even this might be liver toxic, but could be built up gradually, according to a drug leaflet that I read.

You see, niacin is a drug that can be prescribed for heart disease, and I think it should be used much more. It's famous side-effect - redness and itching all over can be frieghtening the first time.

Night time would be the logical time to take it.

If you are taking niacin to reduce serum cholesterol then the regular non-time release works best. Time release is very liver toxic, and the flush-free does not work.

Yes, but you will not have noticeable flushing of the facial capillaries. Niacin is found in most over the counter detox and body cleansing products including capsules and even teas.
