I agree with what your saying here to a certain degree, most young people I know here in Weymouth are good & proper, they wouldn't dream of hurting anyone at all. The way things are at the moment is terible & its a shame that all young people get tarred with the same brush for just a few being violent. I also think it depends on how deprived the area's that the kids live in, makes a big difference to there behaviour, also their parents do not always know whats happening until its too late, mainly I think trying to keep off the below the bread line & working too much to see whats happening with their kids...its a total shame that young people are so dissiloiusioned with the world that they feel they need to resort to violence.

I agree with you its reaching ridiculous proportion. So much so i decided to home school my daughter. Bullying in secondary schools is not just name calling, its stabbing, slashing faces, happy slapping, group beatings ( scissors into a girls eye ball) and they way they talk to each other and teachers is vile.
They hang around in groups (nothing new did that myself) but the vibe you get from them now is so aggressive. Grown men murdered over asking some teenagers to keep the noise down, its a crying shame. Of course I'm not saying all teenagers are like this there are plenty who are polite and well behaved. But the majority i feel there parents are to blame they come up with crap excuses, you cant be with them all the time, that's just kids, and alot of the time the parents are just as rude and aggressive as the children. Don't get me wrong i didn't grow up wrapped up in cotton wool. I grew up in ruff areas of Glasgow but if a girl came to me and was all what you looking at and we fought it was just that a fight between 2 people. Now you have all her friends jumping on you too, people filming it on phones. Children used to be frightened of police officers now they are not feared at. If i got in trouble i know my mother would have killed me. I say make them all do military service for 18 months after school, if they don't have a job or are furthering there education. Why should tax payer have to put up with it i know i rather pay for them to join the military than collect dole money which will just go on dope and alcho pops...........

Youth’s of today are very frustrated...they aren't listened to like 20 years ago...it's all shut up and listen.... The only way they can express themselves and get their frustration out is by committing these crimes...
A young person can't have a debate with an older person because they aren't as wise and even if they had a good point no one listens...they want to intimidate the people who do this to them...so they lash out...of course this is all in the sub conscious so they don't realise this is why they are doing it.
Just my theory!
Best advice anyone could give is listen to the children!

Television preaches violence at every turn because that's what makes money apparently. The rights of the child not to be hit means that some parents don't discipline their children at all because they think that discipline IS hitting. Of course there is no need to hit a child to discipline it (and the child is happier too, if disciplined!) My own sister moans that her young daughter is a hell-cat, but it's easy to see why. Instead of making her find out the consequences of her actions, my sister yells at her (which fulfils her need to be noticed!) and panders to her when she sulks that she doesn't like the food so she wont eat! I'd just say "tough" or "make yourself something, then."I'm not harsh just fair.

In the UK and also in many other places it is in a great part to do with immigration. Too many coming from other places and given too much by the UK government.
Another reason it that their parents were brought up in most part after the WWII and had it relative easy and gave their children too much and did not teach the the value of things.
Overcrowding is another factor and that one is going to get much worse in a short time.
Too much to easy and when they begin to grow up they can't cope with things as they really are.
Just some of the reasons and I am sure there are more.
Peer pressure always is part of the behavior of the young and old as well.

They are so violent because they know that the most they will get is a slap on the wrists from the police or the courts. The legal system in this country is a joke and until it is toughened up they will just carry on getting and worse.

parental control. we as adults want our kids to grow up as fast as possible, so we can go back to having a life that does not revolve around the family. (like our parents and grandparents did)
the result is your little angel is out on the streets, doing whatever he likes, knowiing thet he cannot be punished, because the coppers and social services say so.
the rot begins at school because some namby pamby liberal social worker decided that little johnny shouldnt be slapped, or pulled up about his behaviour... and johnny knows the system, and abuses it.
put 20 of these little bastatrds together, and somerone wil generally die, or be put in hospital. one guy asked the kids to get off the steps of the flats, and keep the noise down, his kids were in bed... they beat the fork out of him with golf clubs... which plod allows them to carry... in my day it was an offensive weapon unless you were on a golf course.
personally, i'd like to see kids as young as 7 or 8 banged up in th cells for 48 hours. just so they know whats going to happen as soon as they reach 10 and become criminally responsible.
no crying to mummy then... but obviously im a monster, what makes it worse is im a dad of 4 kids, and i have a degree in sociology and criminology...
our kids need to have controls. our kids need to know whats right and wrong and act on it, or suffer the consequences, just like we did all those years ago.
and if they arent in university, or full time employment within 6 months of leaving school, they can go into some public service organisation, like hospitals etc and work as porters and labourers...
work equals self respect and a disposable income... sponging off teh state does nothing for your self respect, and youre always blagging stealing or scamming someone...
and hey kids... ever heard of karma...

let's see where to begin!
*TV
*lack of accountability
*kids having kids
*moral fiber no longer instiiled in our families
*community dis-unity (neighbors could spank kids for being bad in my day)
*peer pressure
*the internet!
there are so many more reasons, but on the bright side all is not lost.
There are shining stars out there who aren't spawned from satan! they just aren't as boisterous as the others.
It's not a phenom reserved only for the UK either, sad to say the USA seems to also be a breeding zone for some of the worst young criminals I've seen.

Becuase parents want to be their friends instead of being parents. Discipline should be a key role in raising your children. Parents always say "My Johnny wouldn't do that, he's a good boy" What ever happened to spare the rod spoil the child. Respect has been lost for the elders and the parents are to blame.

You know what? I blame it on the parents. They have allowed their children to be rude, obnoxious, and let them get away with any and everything because they were too busy to be bothered. They were more concerned with their lives than their children's. We need to have stricter schools, curfews for children under 10, under 16, under 18 and stick with them. Rules. They are not to be broken. Parents need to set rules and stick to them. Have consequences. The education system needs to be beefed up from kindergarten on. Make kids study hard, give homework and short and long term assignments. The 10 commandments need to taught. No matter what religion you are....those ten rules are universal. Children have way too much time on their hands.
