Dry humor, by definition, relates to being serious and in doing so, becomes very funny or humorous or being funny but not appearing to be trying to be funny.

A classic example of dry humor would be the man who literally roasted George Bush on TV . . . .Mr. Stephen Colbert (pronounced Colbear) of the Stephen Colbert report.

Good question.

Dry humor could also be called wry humor. How's that for an example? If you remember George Burns and Gracie Allen, George's humor was dry. Of today's comedians, maybe Chevy Chase does it. It's humor that isn't funny right away. It becomes funny sometime later. Like this answer.

Dry humour refers to an almost cynical type of humour, where someone is usually expressing a serious opinion on a serious subject through humour. The point is not to crack ppl up, but to convey a message in a non-preachy way.

Dry humor is also referred to as sarcasm. It's not as easy to "get" as an outright joke. My husband prefers dry humor. For example, my mother was telling my husband the long and extremely boring details of how she fixed a green bean casserole and, after listening to her, my husband said, "That sounds very interesting...now, ask me if I care?" He was kidding, but he looked very serious. That's dry humor.

Have you watched the original version (british) of The Office? That is what dry humour is about. It isn't physical, like clownish behaviour, jumping up and down and using physical expressions like most american sitcoms.

Trying to be funny, but the jokes are lackluster. For example, I heard a politician say, "where you have people out of work, you have unemployment".
