This may be something that you can try. At the top of the leaflet, write in big bold letters, "DON'T READ THIS."

This would initially grab their attention. Follow it up with smaller letters that follow your leaflets theme, say, "unless you want a healthier lifestyle..."

Hope this was able to help give you some ideas.

I saw a segment on a talk show that showed two different computer-generated photos of the same person when she was older: (1) not eating properly, and (2) eating properly. Scared the heck out of me--there was a big difference! Use an attention getter like that and you may win the young people over to read your material.

I can think of 4 things:

1. Toss in some lively dialogue. Short quips are best. Long stuff loses your audience in a hurry.

2. Include some fun, easy-to-make vegetarian recipes.

3. A catchy title.

4. A colorful cover with some neat, simple graphics.

Something like this:
Look good, feel good, be ready for action.
Healthy food does not necessarily tastes awkward.

As our culture nowadays is more visual than anything else, you can use an appealing design when you trace your writing, or a picture.

Good inspiration.
