Try boiling a cup of water in the microwave until it steams the whole thing up - then wipe down the inside with bicarbonate of soda. If you don't have any bicarb try vanilla essence or lemon juice which are both good smell neutralisers.

I put a bowl of water and vinegar in the microwave and turn it on for a few minutes and then wipe it down. I also set a small bowl of Pine Sol on the counter, it will absorb any odors in the room and leave a clean smell. Good Luck!!

Opening the windows is a good first step. You may want to clean the mircowave with a mixture of 1tsp white vinegar, 1 tsp ammonia and a generous squirt of dawn dish soap. Put it in a foaming pump bottle and apply it with a sponge. Let it sit for a few minutes then wipe it away. That should take care of the stains and kill the smell.

Clean the microwave with straight white vinegar and then heat a bowl the vinegar and allow to set for about an hour.
