Weather wise: Fall or early Spring. To avoid crowds and reduce your cost, visit during non-peak times. Which are typically late January - early April and late September - mid November. Avoid all holidays and weekends.

The first time that we went to Disney World we went mid- December...about two weeks before Christmas. The weather was incredible (we were coming from the Windy City) and the park was almost empty since the schools had not yet let out for the holidays. We never parked any further from the front gate than row 15 and never stood in line to get on any of the rides. It was almost as if we had the park to ourselves. We wore shirt sleeves during the day and a light jacket towards evening. This was probably 15 years ago so I am not sure if the crowds are still the same since more people take their kids out of school before the regular holiday break and weather patterns have changed. Second time we went was during the holiday break and crowds and weather were vastly different. First time we choose the time we did because it was considered "off season". We combined it with the Disney Cruise which was then on the RED BOAT.

No matter when you go - you will have a ball. Even when it rains the rains don't last long.

Now is a beautiful time to be in Florida and visit the Disney parks. I don't know that they offer discounts much at any time of year (by that I mean on the ticket prices.) I think if there are discounts it may be that you find better values on rooms and maybe rental cars at certain times of the year. I can't say for sure how packed the parks are right now but I do know that they fill up at Thanksgiving but wait until say the Tuesday after and (I went that time last year) and it'll be a great time. December isn't bad either but close to Christmas it will fill back up again. I also went several times in January and February '06 and the weather was pleasant and the lines weren't bad. Have fun!

By far the BEST time to go is in Feb! I've been a florida Res for 20 years. The weather is great, there are no lines, and you don't feel crowded. My parents would pull us out of school and go then, we never had to use Fast Passes because the parks are almost empty. You can have a lot more fun, and really get your money's worth. PLUS it is not peak season so the resorts are a lot cheaper if you want to stay on site. Also the deluxe restorts will sometimes upgrade you for free during that time as well. We stayed at the Contempory, and got upgraded to a tower room.

January/February or October/November
I'm from Florida and have been to Disney many times.
Summer is the worst, if you are not used to Florida weather. It could be in the 90s-100s, and the humidity is awful. Then, add to that all of the kids out for the summer.
April is horrible, too. Spring breakers and family vacationers fill the park to capacity.
The holidays are extremely busy as well.
The months I gave are less crowded, cheaper, and the temperature will be mild.

Summer is the WORST time to go! All of the kids (from kindergarten to college) are out of school and the families take vacations! Plus it is very hot & humid at that time.

Here is how the Disney web site states their "seasons"

Value season: Jan 1- Feb 15, Aug 27- Oct 4, and Nov 26- Dec 19
Regular season: Apr 23- Aug 26, Oct 5- Nov 25
PEAK season Feb 16- Apr 22
Holiday season (which I am sure the parks are packed) Dec 20- Dec 31

I am a Disney veteran/nut...The best time to go is in jan-apr...the parks are less crowded, the weather is so nice, (you can swim in theses months)and the Disney staff is wonderful...It is best to stay on property, since you will get some perks for doing so, such as early admittance to the parks, and free transportation (ferry, monorail, buses) their transportation is like clockwork, and you will have a wait of 15 min or less everywhere you go in Disney..a tip, don't take the bus to Epcot (a long walk to the gate) take the monorail instead...take a cheap hooded poncho from walmart, since you don't want to pay 10.00 each, in the world, it usually rains every afternoon, take a fanny pack, not a purse...fill it with snacks, since the food and drinks are EXPENSIVE in the world....another tip: if you want to hit all the rides, get an ecv (scooter) at the entrance to each park, $32...for all day...it's worth it, since you get right on attractions without a wait, and you can zip about the HUGE parks, without tiring out...esp. good when you are going with children (first come first served basis, so get there early!!) To save money, consider staying in a condo where utensils, dishes, and linens are provided.as well as a kitchen..cook breakfast early, put food into a crock pot to cook while you are out, so you only have to buy lunch! (and that's expensive enough!) Have a wonderful. magical time!!

January. If you are from up north this is the perfect time. The summer is way to hot. 100 degrees F with 100% humidity. To hot.

The summer time. It is when the costs are down because most peole like to ravel when it is cold at home. So the prices will be set accordingly to get people to go.
