I am proud to be English but I always call myself British. I do worry about the way the country is going but I am sure there will be a backlash soon. We need the opportunity to gain back our self respect and I personally feel that will not happen until we are almost dictated to do it. Rather like New York when Mayor Rudi G started laying down the law again. We seem to be afraid to step up to the mark and take responsibility for our actions nowadays. However, as a nation we always pull together and we do support others, remember how much money ordinary people donated after the Tsunami, it was not an established charity but shops ran charity boxes and everyone donated. We are a great race, we have fantastic qualities, we need to start respecting our neighbours, respecting our traditions and respecting ourselves

I'm proud to be English because I think we are the most tolerant and kind people on earth! I left England 30 years ago and have lived in a country which is unfortunately envious of the British (who they call "English"! As in "Cardiff, England" or "Glasgow" ditto! It's easy to see that they are envious because they abuse us so much and make up lies about us too, to make themselves feel more important. Of course it doesn't work, or they'd all be very happy with themselves by now and that's not the case, sadly.
I'm not happy with the way England is going. The likes of Rupert Murdoch and other people who'd like to see the place collapse for their own perverse reasons, have brainwashed (or brain polluted!) people into being less than they really are and not friendly as they used to be when I was living there. It's hard to believe that "England" has "gone" as some people claim. They say there isn't an England any more. That's heartbreaking! There seem to be so many criminal gangs from all over the world in residence there now, plus the home-grown variety, that it looks as though it will destroy the place. Maybe it's time to toughen up the laws and also to introduce skills to children that will help them to deal with the effects of parental (and peer) abuse.

Yes I was proud. But look at how England is. It's going down the toilet. Thanks to Labour there are too many foreigners and immigrants in our country. Islam is a constant problem in England. Over 1600 muslims are suspected terrorists, all with British citizenship, born there!!! WE get blown up but nothing is done to stop them. The government is forcing this political correct trash on us. To think that not even 100 years ago the British empire was the strongest force in the world. We owned everything! Now look at us, a shaodw of our former selves.

Traditions have gone out the window!

I am English and No I am not proud to be English anymore, because we have nothing left to be proud of, British Steel gone as has all other British companies, Pensions fiasco rip off, NHS undermined and mismanaged, NO NHS Dentist, Work longest Hours for less pay, Students have to get into debt just to be educated to help our future, All bills going up way above inflation, but wages stay the same, People are going blind because they cant afford to pay for eye tests and get Glasses, Peoples teeth are rotten because we don't have enough NHS Dentists, and just to top it off, we English/Scottish/Welsh and Irish are treated as second class citizens in our own country, while Others are given all the help they Need, No I am Not proud to be English/British

I am very proud to be British, I cant call myself English though. The country could be better, I think our Government hasn't got its priorities right and should stop wasting so much money. Also, I think the Government should listen to its citizens.

I am proud I'm English but I have not been there for 37 years. The England I remember is 1969. The rest of England in me I got from me Mum & Dad. I see England from another perspective than most of you all. I came from a 3-channel black & white England just starting to get it's color.

I am honoured to be an Englishman. I do not want to be known as British anymore as I do not want to be associated with the scots welsh or northern irish - I look forward to England becoming a sovereign country in its own right.
