Thumb drive is also called as Pen drive, USB Drive. Thumb drive works on Flash memory or Chip memory, which is very fast than a floppy disk. A floppy disk works by storing data on a magnetic disk.

A thumb drive (usb drive) is like a small harddrive that you plug into your usb slot on the computer. A disk is useless as they only hold 1.44mb.

The reason the usb drive can hold so much data is that as technology advances the size of data storage decreases.

thumb drive is a flash or remote drive..floppy accepts floppy discs...flash is a quasi hard drive and is designed to take more data..floppy is first generation technology and has severe limitations...the problem is most newer programs are larger than what a floppy can handle.
