Born to the name Temüjin in the Borjigin family (Mongolian: Тэмүүжин, Traditional Chinese: 鐵木真; pinyin: Tiěmùzhēn), he forged a powerful army based on meritocracy to become one of the most successful military leaders in the whole of history.
While his image in most of the world is that of a ruthless, bloodthirsty conqueror, Genghis Khan is an iconic and beloved figure in Mongolia, where he is seen as the father of the Mongol Nation (see also Mongolia). Before becoming a Khan, Temüjin eliminated and united many of the nomadic tribes of north East Asia and Central Asia under a social identity as the "Mongols."

Everytime we sneeze, some of our brain cells die. The roar that we hear, when we place a seashell next to our ear - is not the ocean, but rather the sound of blood - surging through the veins in our ear. In a deck of playing cards, each king represents a great king from history. Spades = David, Clubs = Alexander the Great, Hearts = Charlemagne, Diamond = Caesar. Joke. An economist visits his old school and asks his professor to show some current exam questions. To his surprise, they are exactly the same ones which he had answered 10 years ago! When he asks about this, the professor says"Questions are always the same - only the answers change".

his name - Genghis Khan - means supreme conqueror.
his original name was Temüjin.
folklore and legend stated that whenTemüjin was born he clutched a bloodclot in his fist, an indication that he was destined to go on to do great things.
he had many wives, significant of whom were 4 - Börte Ujin, Kulan, Yisugen, Yisui. Börte Ujin, however, was his only empress. he actually rescued Börte Ujin from kidnappers.
he first got married at the age of 16.
he took the blood oath {they actually mignled their blood together!} and became blood brothers with Jamuqa, and vowed to remain loyal to each other for eternity.
