Yupp, there are loads of things you can sell on ebay.
First, start selling things which you don't need or use. I am moving house soon and so started selling things like trousers that I have not used atleast once, a computer part, few CDs, a jacket, a PS2 game, a pc game, a modem etc. Being honest on ebay makes you a good seller and will help you in getting a good positive feedback.
If you have a valuable information that people may be interested in... then write your own ebook and sell it on ebay. Trust me, people buy them and you can make loads of money with it. See in the "everything else" section on ebay and go to "information products" section and see sample sales.
If you can put some time into ebay, there is a lot of potential in many ways to make money there.

It's hard to set up to begin with. Will you be buying to sell? Making your own? Or will you sell second hand items.
I've tried selling many items, and I never get my best price. If you do buy new, then be very sure that the items are desirable, and will cost less than high street prices with postage added.
To begin with, I would recommend you going to a car boot sale and but up bulk items or boxes of odds and ends. Buy things of use.... eg, light switches/bulbs, toilet roll - daft I know, but people want these kind of things.
I would recommend that you don't open a shop at first, but just list items on a normal account, as this will cost you less.
I would suggest doing a few ebay searches on items and see what the competition is. Maybe look for something which is not there and be the first for that market.
It is a heavy going business, and there may be highs and definately lows. Some people make a good living out of it - I would just like to know where they get their contacts from........ as some items are just magnificent, especially for the price.
Some people make personalised posters and signs that they print off themselves. There is no outlay with this, you just need a good image software package, a good printer, paper and maybe a laminator. Just make the designs as and when required. Someone already does this, but not so good quality. Order one, and beat the quality - u should be onto a winner.... room for development onto other products too. Postage is low and shipping can be worldwide.
Whatsmore - you could save money but listing a few designs as one item on a Buy It Now - and the buyer selects they design they require.

things like dvds and computer games usually sell, but not so much videos / outdated things
any collectibles or ornaments will sell
oddly enough, old clothes and shoes seem to sell well as long as they're in good condition.
dig out all your old stuff you dont want any more, then look on ebay to see how much that sort of stuff is selling for.
only sell things in good condition, sell your old crap at a car boot sale.
be aware that you may not get as much for your things as you'd hoped for
good luck

I have a friend that makes over two thousand a month selling things on ebay. she goes to discount stores and finds shoes, hand bags, and collectors items and she re-sales them. Try your "hand-me-down" stores that are super cheap. you can find hot name brands there that get swallowed up on E-bay. Anything can sale on ebay, but name brands sell fast.
