Exam is the abbreviation of examination, as we commonly know. So it is never written as E.X.A.M, but always as exam (i.e. without full stops in the middle).
I have no idea of the existence of the abbreviation E.X.A.M, where each of the alphabets is supposed to be the first letter of a meaningful word and the entire expanded form supposed to signify something.

As far as I know the full form of E.X.A.M. is examination. For a long time it has been shortened to exam.
