My fondest memory is my dad watering the flowers with the hose on a beautiful day, i was about 5, my dad would soak me as well, and then he let me do the same to him, then we would wash his moterbike, which killed him a few months later.
those images stay very clear in my mind

My fondest childhood memory is reading a Random House/Sesame Street book called "The Perils of Penelope." The 1973 publication takes you on an Ernie and Bert adventure wherein Ernie, dresses Bert in a Blondie wig, turning him into Penelope, the damsel in distress.

Ernie then proceeds to put Bert (Penelope) in precarious situations and uses his "chest of costumes and things" to don different theme persona's to rescue Bert (Penelope).

I loved this book so much that when it was time to return it to our Nursery, I would tell my teacher that I would return it personally to the shelf. But what I would really do is hide the aforementioned book until the time came when I could borrow it again.

It wasn't long until I was found out. I remember that my mom was so nice that she worked out a deal with my Nursery to exchange the book for another as it was out of print. To this day, 27 years later, I still have "The Perils of Penelope" book in my possession.

From the time I was 4 until I was 11 yrs old I have all good memories, I was safe, loved and was the center of my parents universe, and then ..................The growing pains began and I met the outside world, we were in vietnam and well..............
it was the love of my parents that gave me support over the years.

I grew up in South Florida so the beaches where a big part of our lifestyle, I had horses which I loved and at home a studio in our garage for my art projects.so those things have real good memories. We spent our summers in NYC, I liked when we traveled.

14 years old, vacation with family to the shore, always knew my dad loved me to pieces, but since he worked 6 days a week, and then worked on the house Sunday's, well let's just say I didn't think he heard all my yapping and my stories.
As my mom and dad and I walked to the beach (sisters and brothers still home sleeping so it was special to have my parents alone), my dad said to the life guard checking badges, "by the way, this is my daughter I was telling you about, show her your tatoo", at which point the girl did and laughed, "I hear from your dad you want one and although he likes mine, he still won't let you have one, but he loves you...my dad was the same way and still doesn't like that I have one either".
It was so cool to hear that my dad talked about me in a loving way to a perfect stranger. That was almost 30 years ago and it still hits my heart.

Wow, that's a tough one! I have many, but the best ones were the times we spent on vacation out in the country! I always thought it was strange.....my parents both grew up in the country, got married and moved to the city to have a "better life!" I have 5 brothers and sisters, and all WE ever wanted was to be in the country! Go figure!

When I was small, my Dad was still suffering intensely from WW2 injuries. I remember my Mother kneeling beside my bed with me and teaching me The Lord's Prayer and praying for my Dad.
Mom died just before I turned 9 years old, so I find this memory comforting, and especially when things get stressful.

Mom...we were in Florida right before she got very sick . She was wearing black horn rimmed sunglasses. She was beautiful that day with such pale white skin, jet black swim suit and vibrant red lipstick....

She picked me up out of the sand and surf on the beach .I was four almost five.I was crying (terrified)..my first memory of her and the strongest..I remember the fragrance of her hair that day and that's been 35 years ago...it was my last memory of her too, when she wasn't confined to a hospital bed.

She rescued me. Thanks for the question

Thank you for this excellent question.
When I was about 4-5 years old we had a beagle named Brandy who had 6 pups, (the same as my mom!) As little children we were all intrigued with newborn puppy life and so I helped dad build a wooden box large enough for Brandy to relax and be able to keep her pups close once they started to grow. And grow they did - quickly! Within three weeks they were able to crawl outside the low lying wooden box we originally built. Since I had to wait for dad to come home before he built the walls a little higher, I thought I would do my part and keep the pups in their box until he came home. They had finished their suckling and rest and now they wanted to explore! Well..., I was having such a good time trying to keep them in the box that I started laughing and I never stopped! The puppies were starting to crawl all over me as puppies do, sticking their lapping tongues in my mouth as I gasped for breath! They were climbing all over me so fast that I found it hilariously difficult to get away from them! My mom and my Aunt Irene came down stairs and started laughing when my mom saw her little boy - laughing very hard - covered in lapping, yipping, puppies that she and my Aunt immediately started to remove all the puppies from me while laughing themselves at the labor of such a task! I found it so hard to breathe(!) while laughing, yet gently trying to keep these tail-wagging, yipping, ambassadors of love from smothering me! I remember I was exhausted and my stomach hurt from laughing so hard! Mom and Aunt Irene put boards over the sump pump hole (Why didn't I think of that!) so the puppies wouldn't fall in and then they (mom and Aunt Irene), moved their coffee klutch downstairs to continue to watch and smile at me - and my brothers and sisters play with the ever boisterous, beagle puppies!

Even to this day, as far as childhood memories are concerned, there were many good ones, but we still remember and recall the marvelous Brandy and her happy, yipping pups!

Thank you for allowing me recall those marvelous memories yet again!

I love your question and I want TEDI to run for President with his stolen book. I hope we all have good memories.
I am a mom, and non too young myself now, and what I hope my grown up kids remember is, despite the conflict of the day, that they knew, as they went to bed each night, that they were loved. We couldn't afford the cool sneakers, but, they were loved. thanks.

i watched this old movie about flying onmagic carpets; that was when i was 6. what i did was i took out some newspapers and joined them up with scotch tape. i planned with my brother (who was about 4 then) about where we wanted to go on the carpet. we decided to go at midnight when our parents were asleep.
we sat on the carpet at 12midnight and kept chanting the magic words to make the carpet fly. it never did. i remember crying, putting the carpet below my bed and go to sleep.
