do you just let yourself fall and roll around softly or do you take these giant, big stumble steps, arms flailing, and try to avoid falling?

I usually flail around so I draw everybody's attention so they can watch me.

So far I've only fallen once while skating over the past year. I've made a few miraculous recoveries though. God watches over fools.

I have fallen a lot. I can usually avoid a fall, but have been quite active, and have fallen quite a bit. I rarely stumble-fall, usually I can recover before the fall.

From short distances when a fall is inevitable, I relax and try to get my arms in position to absorb the impact, without locking my elbows.

From heights, I usually try to tuck into a near fetal position, head behind head, and land on the area between one scapula and just above the rotator, rolling onto the other side, to minimize the force of impact. That is how I was trained to fall from heights, and it has served me well on most occasions.

When I was young, I slipped and fell from a 10 meter platform on my approach, because I didn't clean the platform. I landed in the water, so it wasn't bad. Soon afterward, the diving coach brought in a fall expert to teach us how to land if we fell.

None of my falls have been good for a few years now, so I tend to avoid ladders and heights.

I do the same thing that most people do-try to avoid the fall. Although the "correct" way to fall would be to hit the ground and roll, it is a proven fact that people generally are going to flail their arms to avoid the impact and this is usually why people get hurt when falling.

I try to avoid it as much as possible. I'm tall and thin, so there's not a lot of cushion when I hit the ground. The last time I fell, I was walking on a particularly uneven sidewalk in Panama City. Boom splat. Cut my cheek and thumb. I got some really funny looks walking back to the hotel.

If I'm falling onto a soft surface like carpetting I just hit it and hope nothing is broken. If I'm fallng onto a hard surface like concrete I try to get my hands in front of me trying to stop or slow down gravity if at all possible. I'd rather have a sore wrist or hand rather then a head trauma.

Hm... well, I move around like a person trying to dance (but can't!), trying to prevent myself from falling... I always look so fun! Arms all over the place, bum in the air, hair in my face... lol... Then, I get my center of gravity back into place, and I laugh about it!
Hey! I don't like getting hurt... I'd rather look like a fool and not get hurt than look all smart and get hurt... pain is a foe! :-)

I get sprains all over from trying to avoid the fall. Only a few times have I just fallen, and those times I knew not to fight it coz itwould be worse if I did.

Just go ahead and fall. Look around see what kinda wreckage I've created if any then dust myself off and go on.

I really do both, along with other things. But I always fall, no matter what I try!
