Tips for General Care
As with other precious metals, sterling silver will oxidize with time. Properly maintained, silver improves with age and develop a lush patina. Treat your silver well, care for it properly and it will reward you with a long life and lustrous look.
Do clean with a mild soap-and-water solution, allow water to bead up, and pat dry with a soft cloth. For more stubborn dirt, a jewellery cleaner labelled for silver use is appropriate.
Store your silver in a cool, dry place, preferably in a tarnish preventative bag or wrapped in a soft piece of felt or cloth. Store pieces individually so that they don’t knock together and scratch.
Don’t rub silver with anything other than a polishing cloth or fine piece of felt. Use of tissue paper or paper towels can cause scratches because of the fibres in these products.
Don’t expose to air and light when storing because it will cause silver to tarnish. And, don’t wear sterling silver in chlorine water.

You meant to oxidize or de-oxidize your sterling silver jewelleries? Why would a person want to oxidize the silver jewelleries? That will spoil and tarnish your silver accessories! However to oxidize a silver accessory, you can try to spray some perfume or use some washing detergent or powder to soak it awhile.
And if you to de-oxidize them, use the type of cloth which is used to clean glasses or spectacles and dip some silver removal solution to wipe the affected areas, this solution can be purchased in the silver accessories' shops. And wash it with fresh water to clean everything away.

What do you mean by how long silver jewellery last ? It last for a long long time, but when you were it daily it worn out, thin chains might broke, loops of the pendent, rings, as silver is soft metal. As for the oxidise, its natural chacter of the silver, but you can always polish it.
