I know how you feel
I think the best way is to try and build a casual interest in what you're writing about
If it's a book, read a few pages and take your time thinking about what's going on.
If it's a person/people, imagine what It must have been like to be them and sometimes that makes things a bit more interesting.

Take your time. I reckon that If you try and rush through it as quick as poss, it becomes a chore. If you slow down and maybe listen to some music and have regular sceduled breaks then it's so much easier.

But I reckon the easiest thing to do with an essay is plan. If you have all your ideas scribbled on paper, the task becomes less daunting and you have a sort've checklist to tick off. Makes nasty essays a lot easier and quicker.

Good luck!

I think it all depends on how much you know the material you're going to be writing on, and how comfortable you are with it. If you know what you're going to write about, it is a lot easier. To help start it off, make a little outline of main points to put in your essay. This will help shape your essay, and your thesis statement. Once you get started, it goes by pretty easy.

I always dreaded writing but once I started I would get into it. I would never "enjoy" it the way I would with say a cup of Starbucks coffee or sleep when tired, but was not the end of the world.
